In my bed is the sweetest of things.
A dream come true.
Let them help.
Because they are insanely proud of scrunching all of your newly laundered and UNWRINKLED clothes into wee balls and stuffing them into the depths of the basket.
“Folding,” he says. “I do it all by my-self!”
It’ll be interesting to see what his family says when they realize all of their clothing is wadded up ball-like in their drawers.
(I saved my things, though :) I told everyone else they should be doing their own laundry anyway so I guess they can’t really complain. It may be circular in shape but at least it’s clean!)
When I took Luxe out the other day, I realized that we were missing the newborn insert to our carseat.
She is SO TINY that it nearly killed me once I realized it because she looked incredibly uncomfortable.
On my list of Things For Luxe today was a new headrest.
This thing is FANTASTIC!
I almost didn’t buy it because it seemed so plush and I was thinking that plush would equal hot.
But it doesn’t matter.
She is so snug, so perfect in this contraption that if she’s hot, she doesn’t mind because she slept for HOURS in it.
This is by far the best infant holder-upper we’ve come across.
And I think I want one–for ME!
Whenever a new baby arrives, there’s always that period of figuring out How To.
How To Get Showered And Dressed.
How To Manage Bedtimes.
How To Appropriately And In A Timely Manner Get Seven People Ready And Out The Door.
(Still haven’t attempted this one–it’s a DOOZY.)
How To Do All Of This And Not Go Stark Raving Crazy.
(Not sure if this is possible. Ask me next May.)
But in all of this, there’s also Just For Today.
Meaning…there’s no rhyme or reason to the How To, there is only Move Your A$$ Right Now If You Want To Go Shopping This Afternoon.
This is a case of Just For Today; this is how I managed to get ready this morning.
I nursed, Charlie changed, and then I nursed again Luxe.
This took an hour.
Sigh.
Not pictured is my announcement of a looming shower and then the naked toddler that excitedly appeared in my doorway, ready to join me.
So much for starting the day off “Stress Free.”
After we showered, we came out to find this:
So having Charlie watch Creux was out of the question.
I had to occupy him with something else or else I was going bye-bye without makeup and with wet hair.
Since I have not totally thrown in the towel on looking human, this was not an option.
I asked him to play in his room and to my amazement, he did.
I found him hammering.
You didn’t really expect him to behave QUIETLY, did you?
And then ten minutes later I heard a ruckus coming up the stairs, a heavy heaving and grunting and as I came down the hall, I knew what he was doing.
He was climbing the stairs with BOTH of his car carpets in his arms, having dragged them up from the basement two floors down.
I helped him lay them down and then I raced back off to finish changing my clothes 16 times.
Where everyone else was, I haven’t a clue!
I never said this method was without it’s faults :)
Tomorrow…who KNOWS how I’ll get up and ready for the day.
Right now, I’m a One Morning At A Time woman.
But I’m ready!
Bring it, Monday….
(Okay, but go easy on me. I’ve never been a mama of five before and frankly, I’m a little bit scared of the workload. If the laundry is any indication of what I’ve gotten myself into, I’m going to start hyperventilating by Thursday.)
Creux is VERY proud of the bump in his status around here.
And he’s adjusting well!
We have to CONSTANTLY remind him to be quiet (he may actually be hard of hearing because he has no indoor voice there is only a front yard voice and a way-the-hell-off-in-the-backyard voice–both of these break MY sound barrier) and to be gentle.
But all in all, he’s a pro already.
And he loves this little girl crazy…
“Word”, Greer.
Obviously my blogging has taken a hit.
Since I’ve been sequestered up in my nest, I haven’t been popping by my work station downstairs to upload super cute photos six times a day.
Charlie bought me a little Netbook for my birthday and that’s what I’ve been using to post on Expectant but I prefer this bigger laptop to manipulate photos on.
As I come back to life, I’ll be on here more.
Tomorrow kicks off my first “real” week back to Mommying and as usual, we aren’t cutting any corners.
This is Greer’s art camp week PLUS her birthday so there should be some non-baby fun going on around here!
(Though who doesn’t love baby fun??? I sure can’t get enough!)
Today was a terrific day for me, with things running pretty smoothly around here.
Everyone was up and helping with chores so the house is shining and clean.
We had a visit from the PKU lady; she came and stuck my baby’s heel, setting off a tantrum of impressive proportions.
Charlie and “the girls” (we now have a “girls” category!) went shopping–we needed a few items for Luxe and then a trip to the grocery store.
Well, a trip first to Starbucks and THEN a trip to the grocery store.
Laundry is churning, dinner is being prepped, kids are terrorizing the neighborhood, baby snoozes in car seat.
I have ten minutes to myself.
So, I decided to dust off my favorite family sharing space and post what I could before being called as dinner.
(Not ‘to’ dinner but AS dinner.)
This was taken the night before last, as the girls cuddled in bed together.
Sweetness, pure and simple.
