Jealous, Much?

THIS is a flesh-eating pig.

And I know you are all VERY disappointed to not have one hanging on YOUR wall.
Who wouldn’t be?
It’s freaktastic, right?
(And downright creepy at 2:00am when seen by the eerie blue light of a computer screen-saver during a um, middle of the night food run. Charlie told me that, of course. Big ‘fraidy cat that he is :))

We managed to get around to hanging all of Rhyse’s art camp work the other weekend but I’m only now getting around to the photos.

This entire wall section is Rhyse’s handiwork, collected over the last few years.
(That dream-catcher-like thing and the flesh-eating pig are the most recent.)

And while I do like this corner, it’s not my FAVORITE in the room.
I have a new favorite, thanks to Rhyse, and his creativity.
Will show you maybe sometime during next week because I apparently won’t be snuggling with my newborn and should have heaping GOBS of time on my hands.

I’m starting to come undone.

P.S.
Laura, this message is for you because I deleted the email with your comment and am too lazy to open a new one plus some of what I have to say goes for EVERYONE who visits my blog.

First of all, you are NOT supposed to be looking at my messy backgrounds in my photos!
You are to look ONLY at the things I tell you I’m blogging about and to pretend that the scraps of crap on the floor and doodles on the tabletops and the half naked children running rampant through the house or the ones in totally mismatched pajamas (CHARLIE’S FAULT!!!) do not exist.

Second, Laura, my dear sweet friend, I snagged the slotted magazine rack that you saw IN THE MESSY BACKGROUND from HomeGoods about a year ago.
Will keep an eye out for you while I’m busy stalking them for my jumbo-sized bulletin board.

This Was Not A Fail.

The inspiration behind this craft was this photo, stolen from FamilyFun.com:

fireworks

All I needed was a bit of the paint and some plastic straws so that they could blow the paint around, creating that “fireworks” look.

But then, on my way outside, I dropped a paintbrush and it created the World’s Most Perfect Splatter.

Which took this craft to a whole different level.

Our creations look NOTHING like the above what-I-was-going-for photo.
But they had an amazing time just…playing around: dropping brushes, using straws, mixing colors galore.

So I gathered all of my supplies on the driveway and then called my crafters in from the woods.
They spent ALL day outside yesterday, exploring the creek and woods and I just loved every bit of it.
They should not be indoors unless it’s suffocatingly hot or unless they need a toilet–I’m firm on my Summer Policy.
It’s simply too nice and there’s far too many good, messy things for them to get into out there :)

Here they come!

Except for this one.
Can you see him in the trees?

IMG_7630-1

I can’t even tell you how high this was because I only looked for a second, felt my heart stop beating, took the photo, and then screamed at him with my eyes closed to “GET DOWN RIGHT NOW BECAUSE IF YOU FALL AND BREAK YOUR LEG BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT MAKING GOOD CHOICES, YOU’RE GOING TO BE GROUNDED ON TOP OF BEING BROKEN!”

(My neighbors think I am Mother of the Year.)

The ones I did catch got right to work.

SPLATTER!
(We use the drop and run method :))

That small bit of yellow mixing with blue accidentally sparked a whole color mixing experiment.

She really liked the mixing, he really couldn’t get past the blowing :)

So you can see that our finished project was not what I intended but in the end, it doesn’t matter.

It was the fun we were after, anyway.
